Programme Announced for First ESOR Biomarkers Course
A full programme has been announced for the first ESOR course on imaging biomarkers, which will be held on Wednesday, February 29 and is aimed at addressing the following subjects:
- What are biomarkers? Why is there so much interest on them?
- Paradigm shifting from morphology to quantifying function
- Advice on biomarker development – the actual process and at least one practical worked up example
- Short overview of some imaging biomarkers from US, CT, MRI and PET
RSNA Attendance Figures Up Once More

RSNA 2011: 3D Modeling Offers Hope to Facial Injury Victims
By combining conventional medical imaging with some of the same 3D modeling techniques used in Hollywood blockbusters, researchers are offering new hope to victims of serious facial injuries. Results of a new study on human face transplantation, led by Darren M. Smith, M.D., plastic surgery resident at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), were presented today at the annual meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA).

Management in Radiology Kicks off Congress with Junior Management Course
Management in Radiology (MIR), the leading European congress focusing on all aspects of management and healthcare process optimisation, kicks off their Annual Scientific Meeting in the city of Nice (France) on Thursday, September 29th to Friday September 30th 2011. ACR Issue Statement on TJC Sentinel Alert
The American College of Radiology (ACR) have responded to the August 24, Joint Commission (TJC) Sentinel Event Alert entitled “Radiation Risks of Diagnostic Imaging.” The ACR states as follows that such alerts are issued periodically by TJC to describe underlying causes of these sentinel events and to suggest steps to prevent occurrences in the future.
